I’m just putting the finishing touches on a curly maple bound guitar. The fretboard was bound in maple as well. Before the guitar was sprayed I sealed the top of the fretboard binding with thin CA. Any thoughts on what I should use to finish the top of the binding, i.e. lacquer, more CA, shellac? Thoughts and advice are most appreciated. |

Anthony, I assume you're no longer in Houston? Anyway, I always paint a coat or two of lacquer on that bit of maple. Our local craft store has those tiny little brushes that are perfect for laying down a fine line of lacquer. If you stray on over to the board, a razor blade cleans it right off. Steve |

Thanks Steve -- much appreciated! Houston -- Thankfully my weekly commute that I was doing for a couple of months is done for the year and I can now spend more time with family. I might even get a guitar finished. ![]() Must admit Houston was starting to grow on me -- good folks down there. |

Anthony, I haven't done as many as Steve, but I used a glue brush to lay down a coat of shellac, and it worked just fine. |
